Martin Catarata is a leading policy researcher specializing in geopolitical and geoeconomic competition between China and the US/EU. As Lead Researcher for Geopolitics at Sinolytics, he drives the firm's analysis of geopolitical risks arising from the weaponization of economic tools, including export controls, industrial policy shifts, and China’s chokepoint strategy. His work delivers actionable insights on how these evolving policies impact global manufacturing and supply chains, particularly in semiconductors, advanced machinery, and other high-tech sectors.

Before joining Sinolytics, Martin gained experience at KPMG and as a research associate under Prof. Dr. Heilmann at the University of Trier, where he deepened his expertise in China’s political economy. He holds an M.A. in European and East Asian Governance and a B.A. in Sinology and Political Science from Trier University, complemented by studies in Chinese language and political systems at Sichuan University.
